In her senior capstone project, Sociology and Management double major Kristy Witkowski ’24 studied audience reactions to livestreamed eating (mukbang) videos on YouTube. In her content analysis of videos and audience reactions, she found that viewers were more sympathetic to those they perceived as ‘thin’ and more critical of those perceived as ‘not thin.’
