Brett Anderson

I am a graduating senior at Gettysburg College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. I have lived in multiple states along the East Coast and plan to live and teach in Spain in the final quarter of 2022. I am a sociology major and have a minor in both peace and justice studies and environmental studies.

Short-Term Goals

A short-term professional goal of mine is to teach English in Spain. I am registered to take a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification class in the month of June this year. The next step would be to apply to teaching jobs that I am interested in, and then travel to Europe when the school year starts, which is around September and October. As of now, I am planning on teaching in Spain, as I have some Spanish-speaking skills and am a big fan of Spanish cuisine. I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to become certified and teach overseas, and I plan on using this opportunity to help a community in any way that I can.

Long-Term Goals

A long-term professional goal of mine is to find a job that I not only enjoy, but challenges me, requires creativity, and creates positive change. If I am working without any real challenge, then I do not believe that the job is well-suited for my goals and ambitions. Additionally, I believe it is easy in our society to get stuck in a job without a component of creativity. Creativity outlets are essential for me to grow and express myself, so this is very important. Lastly, I want to enact real social change in my professional life. I have been given so many tools in my life that it would be a waste not to use them for the betterment of society. I believe that working with children in the non-profit sector of the job market would check all of my boxes.
