Sydnee Edusei ’24 examined audience perceptions of race and racial difference in her capstone project, ‘Sweet or Sexy? Audience Views of Race Among Bachelor Contestants‘. Her sample of audience tweets during the first two weeks of two seasons–one with a more ethnically and racially diverse class, one with little diversity–allowed her to better understand the ways in which the audience and cast appeared to reinforce white femininity and normativity.
