From 1997-2001, the National Football League saw very minimal hiring of minorities for franchises’ head coaching positions. There was frustration with the league because of the lack of opportunity for these coaches.
They were provided unequal opportunity compared to their white counterparts. Many NFL Front Offices consist of older white males who have been in the industry for many years. The disadvantages of minority coaches around the league were serious and so many were blind to it.
