My current professional goals are largely to explore what is out there and to get a better sense of what types of work I enjoy. In the past, I’ve done lots of work with children and in the not-for-profit world, which will intersect next year as I will be working in San Antonio, Texas for the City Year program, a subsidiary of AmeriCorps. I will be working in a school as a Student Success Coach in which I, along with a small team of other AmeriCorps workers, will be providing in-classroom support to students and teachers. We will also be developing after-school programs.
Following my year, or possibly two years, with City Year, I plan on applying to graduate schools to pursue a Ph.D. in sociology, perhaps going abroad to do so. I have tried to avoid becoming infatuated with any long term goals and rather be open to any opportunities that may arise. I would love to continue with research focused on the intersection of religion and the media.
