The research question of this project was “What is the effect of the ‘Satanic Panic’ on the portrayal of Christianity among US-made horror film trailers produced during the 1970s versus the 1990s?” Through this project, I have strived to find a connection between the largest moral panic of the 1980s, the Satanic Panic, and religiously based horror films. General findings were that representations of the demonic increased, the idea of positive possession was introduced, and sexuality became muddled and abusive. The Satanic Panic.
