All data for this project came from the website The-Numbers.com, which is a by-and-for industry site operated by Nash Information Services, LLC. The numbers presented were accurate, though there were nuances in the film categorization that, for the needs of this project, were lacking. For instance, the page of highest-grossing horror films was using an unknown definition of horror films, and possibly could have omitted those that were outside of how its algorithm defined the films. Additionally, “religious horror,” or anything similar, was not an available search term, and so I had to look up synopses of each film to decide if it filled the requirements of religious horror opposed to generic horror.
