Introduction
The world of Professional wrestling is filled with different characters and gimmicks, and in the beginning the majority of wrestlers were white males however, as time went on wrestlers from diverse backgrounds started to emerge into these wrestling companies in the United States. The treatment of these wrestlers were not the same as the wrestlers of the past as their race was accompanied with stereotypes that were exaggerated through their performance as wrestlers. My research dives deep into how these stereotypes negatively effected wrestlers of colour and presented false representations of racial identity to audiences within the professional wrestling community.
Research Question
The research question that was developed and finalized is How are racial stereotypes reinforced within the four prominent American wrestling companies and how do they benefit these wrestlers?
