Welcome to Best Bang for Zero Bucks: The Case of Introductory College Textbooks! This website dives deep into the world of college-level, introductory textbooks, especially the discussion of whether instructors should adopt open-access texts. My research is inspired by the course material reality on my campus, which is similar to many other campuses. While students struggle to overcome the financial challenge when it comes to acquiring textbooks, there may be a potential open-access text out there going unused. Although open-access textbooks have risen in popularity and in number in recent years, the argument against using them has to do with their quality. This research project is a response to that concern, conducting a content analysis of introductory, college-level Sociology and Anthropology textbooks.
