Limitations and Future Research

One limitation of this research was finding adequate sources for both Liberal and Conservative that talked about Puerto Rico both before and after the hurricane. Another limitation was the time frame. During the data sampling process, the time frame occasionally posed limitations by making it challenging to locate sources from both liberal and conservative perspectives that fell within the specified period, consequently excluding valuable and intriguing data from the research. Therefore, for future research, I suggest that researchers focus more on a specific area in Puerto Rico to analyze the influence that gentrification had on the island. In that same vein, another avenue for future research is to include interviews with Puerto Rico residents. This would help not only amplify Puerto Rican and Latino voices from various areas but also allow the audience to resonate with the Puerto Rican people. Lastly, an intersectional analysis could be useful in investigating how intersecting factors such as race, ethnicity, and class intersect with political bias in shaping gentrification rhetoric, and how these dynamics impact marginalized communities in Puerto Rico.
