In her senior capstone project, ‘(De)humanizing Homelessness,’ Sociology major and Writing minor Natalie Wisniewski ’24 compared news media images of homelessness before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This allowed her to better understand the effect of the pandemic on public perception and empathy towards unhoused populations in New York City and Los Angeles.
