What I found while researching was that the way that conservative and liberal news outlets discuss athletes who publicly decline the covid vaccine really shows how much politics affects the vaccination debate. Conservative news outlets focus on the idea that everyone has the right to decide for themselves, using athletes like Aaron Rodgers as an example of someone who stands up for personal freedom. On the other hand, liberal news sources put a lot of emphasis on people with a large platform to promote good health practices. The liberal news sources focus more on the responsibility that people have to promote the vaccine to others. The difference in how these news sources report this debate shows the large divide in society regarding the vaccine and how much daily news is shaped by the political views of these authors and news sources they are affiliated with.
