What started in 2006 with Tarana Burke took off in 2017 after its use by Alyssa Milano on Twitter. Through a content analysis of 55 New York Times articles from 2012 to 2022, I sought to answer the question, “What is the effect of the #MeToo Movement on portrayals of sexual misconduct in news media from 2012 to 2022?” Ultimately, the #MeToo Movement was a significant contributing factor to a cultural shift in how sexual misconduct is discussed.
