Salma Suarez, Gettysburg College Class of 2024

After I graduate in May, I will be taking a gap year in which I aim to focus on applying for internships with non-profit organizations dedicated to immigration advocacy. This involves researching and networking to find opportunities that align with my passion for supporting immigrants. Through these internships, I plan to develop skills such as understanding immigration law, effective communication, and community outreach, laying the groundwork for my future career in humanitarian work.

Looking ahead, my goal is to become a social worker specializing in immigration issues, particularly for those at the border. I envision myself as a compassionate advocate, providing essential support and empowerment to individuals and families facing challenging circumstances. Through advanced studies, field experience, and a commitment to amplifying immigrant voices, I aspire to make a meaningful impact in building a more inclusive and equitable society.
